Dear Maryanne,

Those who value profit over consumer protection have been busy moving three dangerous bills forward in Congress:

  • a bill that would allow car dealers to inflate interest rates on auto loans by stopping the CFPB from cracking down on discriminatory dealer markups (HR 1737);
  • another that would allow mortgage lenders to get a free pass on following the rules to ensure that you can afford the loan a lender offers (HR 1210), and
  • a third bill that would let companies steal money from you using mainstream, seemingly trustworthy banking sources (HR 766).

If passed, these bills would prove to be costly for consumers. Please tell Congress to squash this legislation immediately!

Or, you can visit ourAction Alertpage, where these three actions take top priority.

Consumer Action empowers low- and moderate-income and limited-English-speaking consumers nationwide to financially prosper through education and advocacy.
