Dear Community Partner,

A growing number of employers are offering payroll cards, which make it possible for workers who would otherwise receive a paper paycheck to avoid potential check cashing fees, money orders and the risk of losing cash. But payroll cards aren’t right for everyone, and employees need to know how to decide if a card is their best option and, if so, how to use it wisely.

“An Employee’s Guide to Payroll Cards”is designed to help employees given a payroll card option understand how the cards work, how to avoid fees, and what their rights are.

Created by Consumer Action with funding from the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA) and Visa, the four-page publication is available free to community-based organizations. Order printed copies using ourorder form, or log in on the publication page to order online. Ordownload a PDF of the guideto print out or read on your computer or mobile device.

The publication is also available in Spanish and Chinese.
