New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education NJCFE 

The goal of the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education (NJCFE) is to improve the personal financial literacy of New Jersey’s citizens by promoting the teaching of personal finance to people of all ages. The Coalition believes that all citizens of New Jersey must have the financial literacy necessary to make informed financial decisions.


The Coalition meets regularly in the Central New Jersey region and consists of over 500 members and representatives of government agencies, schools, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that provide financial education and related services. The Coalition is a nonprofit operated by an elected board of directors and executive director. 

The NJCFE is a proud affiliate of the Jump$tart Coalition.

NJCFE Announces the 2019 Financial Literacy Symposium


This has been a big year for financial literacy and NJCFE including new state mandates for Middle School. 

Before you leave for the summer, make sure to save the date for the NJCFE Annual Financial Literacy Symposium.  The Symposium will be held on December 6 and hosted by Dr. Bernard McSherry, Dean, and New Jersey City University in Jersey City, NJ.  This half day morning event will begin with a 9:00 AM registration and contain two nationally recognized key note speakers on financial literacy. Additionally, there are two tracks for participants - one track for classroom educators and one track for community leaders and not-for-profits.

Beth Kobliner Joins NJCFE Symposium!!

BETH KOBLINER has been reporting and writing about personal finance for decades, and is the author of two New York Times bestsellers: Make Your Kid a Money Genius (Even If You’re Not) and Get a Financial Life: Personal Finance in Your Twenties and ThirtiesShe has contributed to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, and has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning AmericaPBS NewsHour, CNN, and NPR. Her favorite gig was teaching Elmo the basics of saving, spending, and sharing on Sesame Street.



Kobliner started her career as a research associate for Sylvia Porter, whose widely syndicated newspaper column brought personal finance into the mainstream, and was then a staff writer at Money magazine. Kobliner was appointed by President Obama to serve on his Advisory Council on Financial Capability, and spearheaded the Council’s, which has since been adopted by the federal government’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

NJCFE Financial Literacy May Roundtable A SUCCESS


On May 3, there was standing room only at the NJCFE Financial Literacy Roundtable featuring Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight, Prime Sponsor of A-1414, a new law that mandates financial literacy in NJ’s Middle Schools and Department of Education Assistant Commissioner David Greer along with a fast paced digital media presentation by StrixMedia. Those in the room moved the needle on Financial Literacy under the leadership of NJCFE Chair Kim Cole and a Middle School Capacity discussion lead by Barbara O'Neill including Darnell Sutton and Joseph DiFiglia. If you’re looking for curricula to meet the new Middle School Fin Lit standards set by A-1414, check with NJCFE!
