Spotlight on Non-Profit Property Tax Exemptions

 

The issue of non-profit property tax exemptions has been receiving intense attention in the press and in policy making circles.Recent court cases involving Princeton University and Morristown Medical Center have given the issue added urgency, and elected officials in Trenton are working to enact revisions to the property tax statute before the current legislative session ends in January.(Watch your email for a special update on this issue)

 

For the broader non-profit community, the potential implications of these and other court cases, as well as the legislation under development, could be significant.

Catherine Wilson of United Way of Essex and West Hudson (UWEWH) Named Emerging Nonprofit Leader

Catherine Wilson of UWEWH was the grand prize winner of the 2015 Emerging Nonprofit Leader Award andreceived at our conference, a $2,500 scholarship from the Center for Excellence to enroll in their Executive Leadership Certificate programs.

 

Three semi-finalists, Jon Whiten, deputy director ofNew Jersey Policy Perspective (NJPP), Amber Oakley, director of development and marketing, Hispanic Family Center of Southern New Jersey, and Adam Kerins, executive director of the Zoological Society of New Jersey (Turtle Back Zoo), receive a $1,000 scholarship for the Center for Excellence programs, and all four receive the Center for Non-Profits’ 2016 webinar series free of charge.
