Dear Community Partner,

Rather than depleting savings to cover medical bills, or forgoing treatment entirely, more and more consumers are turning to medical credit cards to cover uninsured medical and dental procedures. But these cards, and the similar installment medical loans available, are not the best option for everyone, and the credit terms are not always as transparent as they should be.

The Summer 2014 issue ofConsumer Action Newsreveals the results of our survey of medical credit cards and loans, including interest rates, terms and other key information. It also explains the pros and cons of medical financing options, how the medical credit products work, and what consumers need to know about deferred interest offers.

Features in this issue include:
  • Medical credit cards: Helpful or hazardous?
  • Tips to avoid the trap in deferred-interest deals
  • Who has access to your medical credit card information?
  • Prescription: A dose of empathy

This and past issues ofConsumer Action Newsare available free online and as a PDF download.
