TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education (NJCFE) is proud to announce the establishment of a formal partnership with Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC). RVCC and NJCFE have joined together to further financial education initiatives to improve the personal financial literacy of New Jersey’s citizens by promoting the teaching of personal finance to people of all ages. RVCC has, for years, stood at the forefront of financial education in New Jersey, offering numerous training programs and courses for personal and professional development in addition to educating countless students and community members.

RVCC incoming President Michael McDonough, Ph.D, spoke personally with NJCFE Executive Director and Board Member Kenny Lee on the importance of financial literacy, particularly as an access point to college entry.

NJCFE is dedicated to spreading financial literacy throughout New Jersey and through the RVCC-NJCFE partnership will establish the NJCFE Northern Region Office at the Raritan Valley Community College. This satellite office site will conduct training and professional development activities within the RVCC facilities, coordinate training, professional development credits and educational programming across the northern part of the state. The site will serve as a linchpin in NJCFE’s undertaking to promote and teach financial education in northern New Jersey.

The support of RVCC not only allows for NJCFE to host timely and much-needed educational conferences and workshops on financial topics in their state-of-the-art facilities, but offers through the partnership the skills, unique perspective and leadership in the higher education and academic fields that RVCC has become known for. Sharing in the same charge, our organizations have worked together in professional development training, hosting financial literacy workshops for teen and young adults and teaching NJ residents and community leaders about the many different sectors of finance including entrepreneurship, economics, financial planning and many more. Our individual efforts have touched tens of thousands of lives; together our relationship will further the financial education of innumerable students and community members.

As we continue to move forward with this partnership, we expect new opportunities for both organizations to present themselves and we will be sure to keep our membership updated. RVCC and NJCFE will speak more on this partnership at the September 26, 2014 NJCFE Membership Meeting at 10 a.m. The meeting will take place at the NJEA Region 29 Headquarters at Golden Crest Corporate Center, 2279 State Hwy. 33, Suite 508, Hamilton Square, NJ. All interested parties are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please RSVP at www.njcfe.org so a proper count can be provided to NJCFE.
