NJ's Educator Resource Exchange

Dear Colleagues,

NJCore.org, NJ’s Educator Resource Exchange – the website that allows educators and parents to search for, download and share instructional, assessment and other content that can be used in the classroom and at home – has gone through a homepage facelift over the summer. Powered by user feedback, the redesign makes it easier to access information about exemplary and model practices to teach New Jersey’s content standards (CCSS and NJCCCS). When you visit the site at njcore.org, you will find three new content areas just below the fold: Administrator’s Toolkit, Educator Collection, and Family Corner. Resources are vetted to ensure that the materials you access are specific to the work you do each day.

Feedback from our users also led us to redesign the left tool bar. This builds off our vision to provide each user with specific resources that can be found in a greater variety of searches. You can now search by Category (instructional, assessment, or professional development), by Standards (CCSS, NJCCCS, NJ Model Curriculum), by Role (administrator, teacher, family), or by Keyword. Thanks to our users and their input, you can now receive the content you need more quickly and efficiently.

We also created a banner to help users find new content, events, contests, and educator tips on teaching, as well as featured content throughout the site. And, in order to inspire educators to contribute resources to the site, we have established a reward system. For every 5, 15 and 30 resources contributed to the site, users will earn online “badges” as a testament to becoming a resource leader.

Our continued effort is to provide New Jersey’s education community with a clearinghouse of high quality materials and a collaborative, interactive experience to support, enhance and improve their practice for the benefit of our students. We are working with national partners who are creating materials aligned to the CCSS and other standards. We will see more of those soon, adding to the over 2,100 resources currently on the site. Please join the community by registering for free at njcore.org and passing this site along to your educators to grow the member community and contributions to the exchange which will provide added value to the site.

Sincerely,
